Primary care designed for people with HIV
Our staff is dedicated to helping you live your best life.
Our program provides culturally-proficient, comprehensive HIV care, integrating primary health care and other wrap-around services for persons living with HIV. We accept most types of insurance, including Medicaid, and also serve the uninsured. All services are provided regardless of ability to pay and at low or no cost to uninsured patients.
Whether it’s diabetes, high blood pressure management, smoking cessation, heart disease or other health issues that need regular support, our staff is here to provide support and guidance.
Your Primary Care Provider (PCP) works closely with other members of your care team to help you consider how your body, mind and behavior impact your health. This is why one of the members of your care team is a member of our behavioral healthcare team. Your PCP may ask a member of our behavioral healthcare team to help you set goals that will help maintain and improve your health. One of our behavioral healthcare team members might meet with you once for 10-15 minutes or they may see you at the next few visits with your PCP to follow up on your goals.
We also provide individual, group, couples and family therapy if you are interested in talking more in-depth about issues that relate to your health and well-being.
Services provided by the care program providers include:
Preventive care, vaccines and routine physicals
Gynecological exams and guidance, including contraception
Expert HIV and hepatitis care
Transgender health services
Anal pap smears
Help with smoking cessation
Older adult care
Telehealth
To help you and your family receive the health care you need while staying safe during this critical time, we now offer telehealth appointments for follow-up visits. This appointment allows you to talk directly to a provider over the phone without leaving the comfort of your home.
What to expect from my first visit
Expect your first appointment to last an hour to an hour and a half. Be prepared to have your blood drawn and provide samples for STI screening.
- Do not urinate one hour prior to the appointment.
- If needed, vaccines may be recommended.
During your visit, your healthcare provider will talk to you about your medical and sexual health history. You will be asked about medications you take and any possible symptoms of acute HIV infection. Have a list of your current medications or bring them with you.
You will receive information at your appointment about PrEP and other safer sex options.
If you are uninsured, you will meet with a navigator to discuss financial assistance options available to you.
